High Cholesterol
You have been directed to this webpage because your blood tests results have shown a raised cholesterol, and your ASSIGN 2 score is below 10%.

Cholesterol is a measure of the fat in your blood. When it is too high it can increase your risk of a heart attack and stroke.

We use an assessment called ASSIGN 2. This is a calculator that uses many factors in your history to determine your risk over the next 10 years of having a cardiovascular event i.e heart attack or stroke. If your risk is below 10%, we manage your cholesterol with lifestyle factors.

You can reduce your cholesterol by making changes to your lifestyle. For example;
-
Losing weight
-
Making changes to your diet (see below)
-
Stopping smoking
-
Exercising more
-
Reducing alcohol intake
There are links below which give more information on cholesterol, and specific diet changes you can make
We will repeat your cholesterol in 12 months.

If you would like to discuss any of this further, then please book a routine appointment with the practice nurse.
